Day 180: What Happens After You Criticize Someone
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. That is scriptural, a red flag to all those who have a tendency to judge and criticize other people.
When we judge or criticize other people, it says more about our need to be critical and much less about the other person. If you listen to criticism and take time to think about them, you will notice that criticism does no good.
What does criticism does, it does not add to anything rather it brings about anger and distrust. It acts a labeler and leads to people becoming defensive and withdrawn. It really contributes nothing much to someone’s life.
What happens after you criticize someone? Do you go away smiling how critical you were? If you can be truthful, you felt bad and ashamed. It is not something you can be proud of.
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.Gal 6:1
Stop it! But how? Catch yourself in the act of being critical, notice how bad it is and how it will make you feel. Turn you criticism to tolerance and be respectful. Support others become effective and avoid being judgmental or critical.
