Day 106: When Relationships Break; What is Left to Do?
I want to briefly share a hunch on relationships today. Our lives revolves around relationships. Relations make us feel secure and give us a feeling of assurance. Being the social creature we are, building relationships is usually a primary goal. The irony of life is, as much as we are drawn to initiate relationships, the same thing that make us feel secure also brings a lot of emotional pain and even physical.
The truth about every relationship is that it changes. That is a very hard reality. Who loves that? No one I bet.
I have had breakups and I can confess to you it is not funny; whichever side you are on, giving or receiving side, it is hurtful. If you are on the receiving end, you tend to think the other person is doing fine. But, if you are the one initiating the break up, you know it is not true. Break ups are gross and hurting either way.
You may try to understand and listen to both sides. Whatever he or she said trying to justify the break up. The bottom line remain, it is hurtful. Most of the relationships we hear often are the romantic one, we rarely hear of friendships that broke up. Of all the relationships that have ended up broken in my life, losing friendship has been the most hurtful. Losing a friend hurts.
My take in all this and my single piece of encouragement; when your relationships are changing in a way that is heartbreaking….be brave and allow God to fill in those broken places. He only can.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.PS. 121
