Day 79: Of Human Resilience – 2019nCov; Global pandemic.

I have been following up on what different nations are doing to flatten the curve and wipe out the Covid-19. Different nations are doing all they can to ensure no new infections and are safeguarding their economy as a result of lockdown. They do not have time to point fingers, blaming each other for the pandemic. They believe that there is a solution to the problem and different laboratories are working tirelessly to seek a vaccine.

Let me share my thoughts on what, as inhabitants of our beautiful planet earth ought to focus on. When faced with a pandemic, like we are now globally, it is important to cultivate positivity and strongly work toward a solution to challenges. If you find yourself focusing on the bad things, that is an act of mental laziness.

Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.

Deuteronomy 31:6,8

What is happening globally now have a number of lessons for us individuals. Many people have tendencies to focus more in the dark side of things. Maybe because we have suffered many failures and have been disappointed by other people on several occasions. Whichever reason, grumbling and murmuring will not help. What will help is focus on solving challenges you are experiencing for better results and for a better tomorrow.

Develop a new habit of focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel other than on the dark things. If you find yourself focusing on the dark side, come up with one good thing about the situation and focus on that instead.

For example, China new cases of infections are dramatically decreasing and a number of people are recovering from the virus infection. This is good news. Focus on that. Shut up anytime you feel you want to murmur. Human being have shown resilience even in the darkest moments. We rose past Spanish flu of 1918 which infected 500m people! Ebola came and we rose above it and HIV is now under control. With all this triumphs, why focus on the dark side of things?

Exhibiting a positive attitude especially during difficult time takes work and effort. If you succeed, it is well worth the work and effort. Train yourself to always find the good in the worst circumstances. If you do this, you will grow more focused and resilient.
