Day 44: A little Lie – Why postpone a discomfort?
Honesty is the best policy. You must have heard it. For quite a number of people, one of the hardest challenges for their personal growth is the commitment to cease lying. Many people constantly encounter opportunities to lie in a normal day to day living.
Lies have become so common that it is now socially permissible to lie a little, whether by telling a complete white lie, not disclosing your actual location over the phone especially when friends are waiting for you and you’re late, or tweaking your financial standing to attract attention.
Being honest is one of the best ways to strengthen your character and build a strong foundation for your life. Lies mature and the truth always emerges and if it doesn’t, it will eat away your conscience.
Every time you tell a lie, you are postponing a discomfort. The antidote is to tell the truth always. The hard thing about telling lies is that you have to find another lie to cover the initial lie, This continues and before you know it, your whole life is a lie.
Tell the truth. Do not camouflage like a chameleon. Avoid the small lies. Build a life whose foundation is honesty.
