Day 19: Hold yourself to the Highest standard (must read)
I wrote here recently on how much we are inclined to compare ourselves with others even when we have no clue about what is going on in their lives. Today I want to remind you to hold yourself to your highest standard and do not apologize for it.
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline2 Tim 1:7
If you hold yourself in accordance with standards of other people, you will become poor, you will become unfit, you will be lazy and you will lose your job! You cannot live like a normal person who asks why you have to wake up at 5.am or why bother journal every day or even why fast.
If you go with the standards of people criticizing you, you will not amount to anything. You will stop; you will become frustrated and disillusioned. According to my standards, every day is a learning day, growth never stops and I hold myself to a higher standard to allow me to maintain habits that show self-control and do not allow fleeting feelings and emotions control my life.
Be brave enough and pursue your standards. You do not need everyone’s approval. Be confident with the person you want to be. Give yourself permission to do the things that you want to do and go for them.
Turn you attention inward and stop looking outside. Release judgment and self-criticism. Focus on your qualities and the standards you want to show forth.
