Invest your hard-earned cash in experiences. Here is how.

I do not consider myself as a traveler or view myself as a hiker or back packer fanatic, although I  love and admire getting lost in the wild, not alone but with a bunch of cool people, it does not matter if either I know them or meeting for the first time. I do not mind, I just want to immerse myself with fellow travel enthusiasts.

The walk to the Ngong hills was fantastic and always memorable. Ngong hills never lose its freshness making it a perfect getaway. It gets more fantastic with the spectacular view of the massive wind turbines. The view Rift Valley floor is priceless. The setting makes the place excellent for sundowners and anyone looking for a weekend getaway. The green hills with African trees makes the air pure and fresh. Thanks to Royal vacations for organizing the hike and after-the-hike-treat of Nyamchom (Read Barbecue) at Olepolos…Yes, the Masaai goat ribs are sweet. You cannot be around Ngong hills and not do Nyamchom at Olepolos…then later you can unwind and let the memory sink inside a pool!

After all the fun and experiences, seems it is not stopping there, Royal Vacations have organized another trip to Lake Magadi, 12th of October is on a Saturday, If you love nature and its goodies, mark your calendar this one day tour to Lake Magadi.

Quite a number of musicians have produced their music videos from this place due its breathtaking landscape view and the desert like surroundings.

  • TID – Nyota yangu
  • Sauti sol – Oya come make we go

I am certain you do not want to miss this getaway experience! Apart from being in a company of great people who love to travel and have fun in unique places, and being attended to by a team that cares about your satisfaction, traveling guarantees lifetime happiness which we yearn and crave.

According to an article by CNN, Travel makes us happy, because it offers us the opportunity to step outside our well-worn, self-constructed, plebian realities and provides a platform to explore and practice our ideal visions for ourselves — who we might be if we were not married to our fears and anxieties about safety, security and status.

Thomas Gilovich, a psychology professor at the Cornell university conducted a research which asserts that spending money on experiences, rather than on physical objects, makes us happier. The reason? We “adapt” to objects, which means that the happiness we feel following a purchase fades over time once we get used to it. Experiences, on the other hand, continue to bring us joy every time we think about them.

So where do Happiness Stem from….

Connections, yes connections! The research notes, traveling brings you to new people and places. In such an environment, everything around you feels more inspirational and enrich your life. Your brain and body alike lose track of time, as you are so keen on absorbing new information. That disconnection from the normal surroundings that you are already adapted to offers an excellent environment for creating happy and lasting memories that are hard to forget or replace.

Do I fault the research? Oh no! Gilovich points out that the memories you create while traveling will become a real source of happiness that will stay with you your whole life. He advises, invest your hard-earned cash in experiences, and you will be investing in your long-term happiness and satisfaction.

Hiking and strolling in the cool of the day with new people definitely give thrills and the uncertainty about what the day will bring make one expectant and make the trip something to look forward toward.

I spoke to Judith Muloki who told me I should not mind so much about the itinerary, “James, do not stress yourself out,  let me do the worrying for you, I will pick you up, spoil you the whole day and bring you back with a huge smile on your face. You will enjoy the wild!”
