Revelation: An ingredient in your recipe

Every year, so many people make New Year’s resolutions, but time has proven that only a small fraction essentially keep them.

Things like weight loss, saving more money and becoming a better person are typically amongst the most common resolutions.

For many people, this is normally a time of year where there is reflection on how their year has been, and what they’re looking forward to in the coming year.

If you’re like most people, your resolve to get in to a comfortable weight, save more money, learn a new skill, or “be a better person” likely dissipates by the time February comes around.

The reasons this happens are diverse due to the numerous common drawbacks that keep people from achieving their New Year’s resolutions. I have learnt over time that this is attributed to lack of revelation.

Habakkuk 2:2-3
And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

Revelation is the lifting of a veil that is preventing you from being able to see something you ought to see. It is to uncover something so that we can see it clearly. Lack of it leads us to right goals deprivation and so we box ourselves aimlessly, try to move up and about like a headless chicken but basically moving nowhere. We lack the much needed zeal to pursue goals, we get tired and retire to the old way of doing things because we did not have a revelation on the right goals to pursue.

My previous article on rituals, you can read it by clicking here, talks about something I term as a lifestyle (ritual) which we ought to develop and help us in revelation, revelation is not a monster out there, we deliberately work for it through disciplining ourselves and listening to our inner spirit. Humble yourself just like a small child and become teachable and you will become true to yourself when developing goals that they are core to you and that you pursue them with ease and zeal.

Frustration is often as a result of lack of revelation. Revelation takes you to a glory that you have not been able to experience. What will take you to the next level is not what you already know – you have come this far because of what you know. You need revelation to get to you to the next level.

Happy new year to you!
